Joint bilingual activity

On 2nd February, 2nd ESO bilingual carried on an activity together with the same level group of IES Santos Isasa (Montoro). It consisted of a visit to the Mosque of Córdoba followed by a Gymkhana about the momunent with questions in English. The students worked in teams of 4, 2 from each school. Last year we also shared an activity with the same students. It was a Tour an the river Guadalquivir.

Both experiences were very satisfactory, so we're looking forward to meeting them again soon.

Comenius meeting at Portalegre

During the days 7th to 13th of March we took out the fourth meeting of our current Comenius Project. This time, the country to be visited was Portugal. The Portuguese school is placed in a charming and very quiet place called Portalegre, close to the Spanish border with Badajoz. We made up a very nice team with nine students, mostly from 3º ESO, and two teachers, Rafael Jiménez and Alberto Rubio. During our journey we made a stop in Mérida, where we spent a most interesting day visiting the Roman Art Museum and the magnificent remains of the Roman historical buildings.
The Portuguese school was a very modern one and made our students feel themselves as the characters of some North-American film. The families were most hospitable, and the students, as much as de teachers, really friendly. Although the weather was very cold, even snowy, we could enjoy viewing the most splendid landscapes during our visits to several beautiful places nearby Portalegre, such as Castelo do Vide and Marvao. The students took a lot of pictures and don Rafael Jiménez, one of the teachers, who is a very talented photographer, gave us a fine collections of pictures as a keepsake of our journey.
On the last day of our visit we went to lisbon, where we had the opportunity of appreciating the beautiful style of the Portuguese Renaissance in the Monastery of San Jerome and the Tower of Belén. Afterwards, we spent the afternoon in the Aquarium, one of the best in Europe.
At the farewell moment, all our students cried uncontrollably and promised to their Portuguese friends to be always in touch and to prepare future exchanges for the next courses.

Interchange IES Medina Azahara--Instituto Comprensivo de Ripi (Italia)

During the present school year 2009-2010 our schhol is carrying out an interchange with the Instituto Comprensivo de Ripi (Italy).

From 21st to 27th March a group of 19 1st and 2nd ESO students accompanied by two teachers: Mª Dolores Galera y Rafael Somoza, travelled to Italy. The students stayed at Italian students' homes.

The trip was absoluteky satisfying from all points of view, as besides the cultural learning, the students were able to share and know the Italian customs. So, it has meant a unique personal experience they'll, definitely, never forget

Now we are looking forward to welcoming our Italian guests from 21st to 27th May, and hope their visit comes out as succsessful as ours there.

EL PROYECTO BILINGÜE

El IES Medina Azahara comienza este curso escolar, 2008-09, el Proyecto Bilingüe. Mediante este proyecto, alumnos/as de nuestro centro recibirán, la enseñanza de determinadas materias en una lengua extranjera: inglés. Estas materias son:

Ciencias Sociales
Música
Matemáticas.

Este primer año, denominado “año cero”, se dedica a:

la preparación de los materiales didácticos que se van a utilizar para impartir las mencionadas áreas en lengua inglesa.
fomentar la práctica de la lengua inglesa entre el profesorado bilingüe.
facilitar la práctica de la lengua inglesa al profesorado y alumnado del centro, gracias a las clases con la auxiliar de conversación.
ampliar el conocimiento de la cultura inglesa entre los alumnos.
la preparación teórica del profesorado implicado en el proyecto a través cursos, jornadas y grupos de trabajo organizados por el Centro de Profesorado y la Junta de Andalucía.
la información a los padres de los alumnos que podrán participar en el proyecto a partir del curso próximo.
la selección de dicho alumnado

Aunque el proyecto bilingüe se plasma en una línea de grupos de alumnos, que son los que reciben la enseñanza bilingüe, todo el alumnado se puede beneficiar de él gracias a que:

se organizaran actividades plurilingües y multiculturales para todo el centro
todos los grupos recibirán clase de conversación de inglés de los auxiliares lingüísticos
todos el alumnado podrá optar a los cursos de formación en el extranjero organizados por la Junta de Andalucía
podrán participar en las actividades de los programas europeos a los que se acoja el centro

Para complementar la formación multicultural que queremos que adquieran nuestros alumnos y profesores estamos participando en los siguientes programas y proyectos europeos:

Programa E-Twinning

Consiste en hermanamientos de nuestro instituto con otros centros de secundaria europeos.

Ø El Zespoł Szkół Ogólnokształcacych de Varsovia.

Este programa propone una serie de actividades encaminadas a fomentar la tolerancia. Dichas actividades consisten en:
el envío de fotos y pequeños textos explicativos
el intercambio de información personal a través de e-mail
el intercambios de alumnos.

Este curso hemos realizado un viaje a Varsovia, durante los días 2 al 9 de octubre, y los alumnos / as polacos nos visitarán en mayo de 2009.

Ø Se está iniciando otro hermanamiento con un centro de secundaria de Corinto, dedicado al estudio de las tradiciones y costumbres de los distintos países.

Proyecto Comenius

Es un programa multilateral europeo que llevamos a cabo con:

Italia, Francia, Portugal y Turquía.

Este proyecto tiene una duración de 2 años y su objetivo es conocer las raíces lingüísticas y artísticas de los países participantes. Las actividades se realizan en lengua inglesa y consisten en realizar:

una presentación sobre el centro y su ciudad
un folleto informativo ilustrado bilingüe sobre la geografía, historia y cultura
españolas
un “libro objeto” basado en una basado en una de las palabras de origen
español que existen en el dialecto siciliano
un cuaderno sobre la producción de poemas, cuentos o canciones a partir de
la combinación de diversos términos del dialecto siciliano provenientes del español.
la reproducción plástica de una obra de arte española.
la maqueta de una obra arquitectónica representativa de nuestra ciudad: la
Mezquita
viajes de profesores y alumnos a las diferentes sedes de los países participantes
acogida de los alumnos extranjeros en casas de nuestros alumnos

Las actividades programadas son las siguientes:

Ø Viaje a Sicilia del 9 al 15 de Nov/08
Ø Visita de los participantes extranjeros a Córdoba del 8 al 14 de marzo/09
Ø Viaje a Yalova (Turquía) del 17 al 23 de Mayo/09

Curso 2009/10:

Ø Viaje a Portoalegre (Portugal)
Ø Viaje a Plouër sur Rance (Francia)
